History of Movie Info
The small but powerful agency was founded by Roger and Robert Busschot, twin brothers from Antwerp. Roger and Robert were originally anthropologist-filmmakers. Robert has taught ethnographic cinematography at the Catholic University of Nijmegen and a visiting professor 16mm film technique to the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam.
Roger is also specialized in cultural productions and won the Sony Award for Video Chado, the Way of Tea, commissioned by the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden.
Roger and Robert were born on April 16, 1948 in Antwerp and followed alongside the Modern Humanities, painting techniques at the Art Academy and ethnomusicology and the phenomenology of music at the Antwerp Conservatory. They filmed at an early age when they left their father a second double-8 cameras were present.
In 1967 they came to the Netherlands to study cultural anthropology. In 1975 she graduated with a specialization in ethno cinematography. Roger was followed by courses graphic techniques and Robert concentrated on non-Western languages, specializing in communication issues related to immigrants.
After their Belgian military service in Germany, they came back to the Netherlands and were quickly one job after another (Tropenmuseum, IKON TV, Museon, etc.), Roger was also active as an artist (etchings, monotypes), held exhibitions and had work in several galleries on consignment. Robert and Roger had the honor to be able to make a documentary with Joris Ivens, Henri Storck and Jean Rouch. Cinemafia received a standing ovation at the film festival in Rotterdam.
In March 1983 Movie Info was founded.
