The iPad could be a wonderful device for your museum-tours and presentations.
The display specifications and features are ideal for museums:
- 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology
- 1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi)
- Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating
- Support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously
The Accelerometer sensor offers many opportunities.
Also the iPad offers high-resolution satellite and street view images. See topography with the new terrain view. You can also search for a nearby location (“Museum,”), then tap the museum to see the route and directions from your current location.
Infofilm in The Netherlands (museum media producer) can make impressive interactive apps for the iPad. Ask Roger Busschots for more information: roger@infofilm.nl.

I can’t wait to see the applications museums develop for the Ipad. I work for The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and I see to possibilities for the device both as a teaching tool and as a platform for art work.
